Sort and Find images in the Mac File Browser
Flag images so you can find them later quickly. Just select the
images you want to flag: if they are consecutive, hold the shift
key and select a group at once, and if they are not consecutive,
hold the command key and click on the ones you want to select,
then click the flag icon.
Quickly find images that are flagged by choosing Flagged
Files from the Show menu.
So, is it worth upgrading from Elements 1 or 2?
So is this upgrade worth it? My opinion, yes! There
are a few problems I'm sure Adobe will work out and post patches
for, such as the mailing problems some (including me, but only
from my windows desktop computer. It works fine from the laptop)
seem to be having.
I have also heard of some problems with converting
Photo Album 2.0 catalogs to the new format, but I can't comment
from personal experience because I never had Photo Album. I have
used a professional cataloging software for years, but since I
got Elements 3.0, it has rarely been opened. I love the tags and
the searches of the Organizer, and I like the integration with
Elements.
I am still a little hesitant on the Create Workspace,
simply because it takes so long to load. I preferred the menu items
in Elements 2. When I wanted to make a slideshow, it opened in
a couple of seconds. The Create Workspace takes considerably longer
to open on my Windows machine, a 3.3ghz P4 with 512 mb of ram:
25 seconds. Things seem much faster on the Mac, a 1.8ghz iMac G5
with 1 GB of ram, no doubt due to the amount of things that have
to load in Windows compared to the Mac. if I want a slideshow on
the Mac, the slideshow dialog opens in less than a second.
The advantages far outweigh any problems. The
new photo filters and Auto Smart Fix are superb, I love the Palette
Bin, and the new Shadows/Highlights filter is outstanding! I have
seen my students saving images that would surely have been thrown
away since upgrading to Elements 3..
