Gold Rock Cliff, on Lake Superior's north shore in Minnesota, seen from Split Rock Lighthouse, which claimed the Madeira during the "Gales of November" in November 1905. A popular diving spot, some of the Madeira's wreckage lies here still. This storm alone wrecked or damaged 20 vessels and is one of the main reason Split Rock Light was built. You can see the shipwreck from surface of the water on a still day.
