Download the Extras

Download Shipley's Extras from his webpage here:

There are two versions, one for Elements 1 and one for Elements 2.
Make sure you download the right one for your version. He says they probably work for macs. I don't have one to check so I can say for certain if they do or not.

How to install the extras

Close Photoshop Elements. Expand the file you downloaded above, extra.zip for Elements 1 or extra2.zip for Elements 2.

You will have three folders:

1. Help
2. Plug-Ins
3. Previews

1. Open the Help folder. It contains one folder called Extra. Drag the Extra folder to the c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 2\help folder.

2. Open the Plug-Ins folder. It contains one folder called Extra. Drag the Extra folder to the c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 2\plug-ins folder.

3. Open the Previews folder. It contains two folders, Effects and Filters.

4. Open the Effects folder and drag the two folders contained there, Extra and Extra Tools, to the c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 2\previews\effects folder.

5. Open the Filters folder and drag the one folder there, the Extra folder, to the c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 2\previews\filters folder.

6. Delete the c:\program files\adobe\photoshop elements 2\previews\cache folder. It will force Elements to rebuild the cache when the program is restarted and you access filters or effects. (It may take a few minutes.)

7. Restart Elements.

Under Filters > Extra will be some new filters for channels.

 

In the Filters palette, choose Extra from the popup menu.

 

In the Effects palette, choose Extra or Extra Tools from the popup menu to access the tools.
