This class is SELF STUDY. It was originally written as an instructor led class, so you will find references to message boards and posting homework. Self Study courses have no instructor support and you are not required to post any homework. There is no message board, and certificates are not awarded. You will be able to download the whole course and supporting materials all at once and work at your own pace.
Photoshop Elements: Actions and Layer Styles and Plugins! Oh, My!
This class works for PSE 6 for both Mac and PC and PSE 7 for the PC. Although the Mac does not have the Organizer, it does have almost all of the features we will be using in this class. Mac users are welcome.
Does installing actions, layer styles, and plug-ins into Photoshop Elements 6 and up have you stumped? Ever wonder what to do with that Content palette? This is the class for you! In this six week course, you will learn to install and run actions. You will learn about layer styles and how to edit the ones that come with Elements and how to install the ones you download from the internet. Third party plug-ins a mystery? Not anymore! This course also covers the creative aspects of Elements, like photo books, web galleries, and slideshows. You will also learn to make and print picture packages and contact sheets.
The goal of this class is to shed some light on the creative side of the Organizer in Photoshop Elements and the same features in the Mac version of Photoshop Elements (which does them without the use of the Organizer). The capabilities of Elements go much further, adding DVD and CD labels and jackets, HTML email, creating professionally printed photo books, ordering prints of your photos online, and much more.
NOTE: The previous class, Photoshop Elements: Using the Organizer, dealt with the organizational aspects of using the Organizer. It covers importing and cataloging photos, using tags and albums as well as version sets and stacks. It covers the different viewing methods in the Photo Browser and how to set properties and ratings for your photos. It covers setting and understanding Organizer preferences, and how to manage your photo and media collection with ease, even if it is huge!
Prerequisites:
We will be using layers and text, so you should have taken the basics Elements classes first unless you are already very familiar with these features, as they will not be covered in detail in this course. You should also have taken the first Organizer course, Photoshop Elements: Using the Organizer.
Homework can be posted to your own site, or students have the option of using the Student Upload Area or free web hosting made available for LVS students. Details are provided in the classroom.
