New Live Effects! One of the best features of Fireworks is it's Live Effects, allowing you to apply shadows, bevels, glows and other effects nondestructively. You can come back and change or remove them at any time as long as you retain the original .png file. Now, FWMX 2004 has added new live blur effects: Motion, Zoom, and Radial Blurs.
Add noise is a staple in photo editing and works great for making textures. Here it was used to age a photo.
New Photo Retouching toolsI have always taught in my Fireworks classes that you can edit photos in Fireworks and was always surprised at the number of students who didn't even know the capability was there. It's still there and better than ever with new added tools. These new tools are under the rubber stamp tool in the tool box. Replace ColorReplace Color lets you choose the color to replace, the strength, and the tolerance and brush on the new color, without disturbing colors you don't want to change.
Red Eye RemovalThe new Red Eye Removal tool makes it a snap to remove redeye. Just set your brush size and shape, tolerance and strength in the property inspector and paint red eye away.
File TransferThe new file transfer feature lets you use ftp right from FWMX 2004 to upload your files to the server. In order to use this feature, the file must reside in a Dreamweaver site folder that has ftp set up on the remote server. Then with a single click your file can be sent to the server.
Switch open documents with document tabsWhen you maximize a document in the workspace, switching between open documents is easier than ever with the new tabs. This feature is available only on the PC version of Fireworks MX 2004.
Scale and Transform with new precisionScaling and transforming is now more precise. Pressing the alt key lets you transform or scale from the center of the object.
